Zeus Unveils Datacenter Load Balancing Solution

Zeus Technology, a provider of application traffic management solutions, has unveiled the ZXTM GLB (ZXTM Global Load Balancer). This system will enable enterprises to seamlessly share traffic across globally distributed datacenters.

Based on Zeus Technology's ZXTM product, ZXTM GLB is reportedly the only traffic management solution available as an appliance as well as a software platform to run on current datacenter servers and blades and in virtualized environments. The product offers a rich GUI that helps organizations in visualizing real-time traffic and datacenter performance on a world map.

ZXTM GLB is a DNS (Domain Name System)-based Global Server Load Balancing system. It works in conjunction with an Internet traffic manager by helping organizations to scale their Internet-enabled services to two or more datacenters, obtaining improved reliability, better utilization and better performance. This leads to a better user experience since they are always directed to the best performing or closest datacenter, said the company.

ZXTM GLB ensures business continuity during a site attack, datacenter failure or unplanned maintenance. It also allows companies to provide a faster, more reliable service, improving datacenter utilization and efficiency by load-balancing traffic towards datacenters with spare capacity since user volumes move all through the day.

Paul Brennan, Chairman of Zeus Technology, said in a statement, "Many organizations locate their online services in multiple datacenters, to get their content closer to their users and to improve resilience in the event of site attacks or datacenter failure. ZXTM GLB enables the transparent delivery of services and applications from multiple datacenters, continually monitoring their performance and availability. It manages users' requests, intelligently directing traffic to the most appropriate service point based on current performance, service availability and geographic proximity."

ZXTM GLB is available in two product options. The complete version provides dynamic load balancing and disaster recovery capabilities that enable organizations to balance traffic across multiple datacenters at the same time, to ones that are responding the fastest and are located geographically closest to the user. The 'Disaster Recovery' version is best suited for organizations that need disaster recovery protection for business continuity. Only one datacenter is active at a time, with this option. If the service at the active datacenter fails, users are routed to the next available datacenter.
