Sipera Delivers VoIP Security to Branch Offices
By Johanne Torres TMCnet Contributing Editor
VoIP
security technology provider Sipera Systems announced Monday that it has extended its suite of VoIP security products to enterprise branch offices by launching the Sipera IPCS 210. The new product allows for centralized policy implementations across enterprises with multiple offices and supports the deployment of IP
phones, softphones, WiFi (News - Alert)/dual-mode phones, SIP trunks and Click-to-Talk or Web-based phone applications.
Sipera seems to want to target SMB and branch offices of up to 200 users with the new Sipera IPCS 210. The product will allow these kinds of businesses to deploy unified communications including VoIP, IM, video and multimedia. The IPCS 210 offers VoIP Intrusion (News - Alert) Prevention and VoIP Anti-Spam capabilities, based on the Sipera IPCS 310 technology.
"Giving customers choices and flexibility is particularly important as new technology is integrated into existing enterprises. For enterprises of various sizes and configurations, comprehensive application-layer and end-user security is a prerequisite to deploying today’s growing suite of VoIP and collaborative applications," commented Sipera's founder and CTO Krishna Kurapati in a statement. "For enterprises with distributed branch operations, the IPCS 210 allows firms to cost-effectively deploy unified communications without compromising security requirements."
Via the IPCS 210 and IPCS 310 device release, Sipera has expanded the VoIP Firewall/SBC
functionality of its security suite to enable enterprises to solve firewall/NAT issues, and apply granular signaling, media and security policies to VoIP, IM and multimedia sessions based on network, user, device and time of day.
Today's news comes on the heels of Sipera's recent announcement about its new deal with INSI, an information technology services provider. The companies agreed to make the Sipera IPCS products part of INSI's solution portfolio. By partnering with Sipera, INSI will be able to provide its customers with VoIP security solutions. INSI is responsible for over 2,000 enterprise VoIP deployments within the enterprise market.
