Equinix (News - Alert), a global provider of network-neutral datacenter and interconnection services offering premium collocation, traffic exchange and outsourced IT infrastructure solutions to global enterprises, content companies, systems integrators and network service providers thanks to the Equinix Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centers.

 

Equinix IBX centers serve as critical, core hubs for IP networks and Internet operations worldwide. With 36 IBX centers located in 17 strategic markets across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, Equinix enables customers to reliably operate their mission-critical infrastructure on a global basis.

Equinix announced their plans to double the size of their Paris2 Internet Business Exchange center, and that the center has also received ISO 9001:2000 certification. The 2,500 square meter (26,910 sq. ft.) sellable data center expansion is driven by significant growth from financial services companies, and other businesses in the Paris market. They previously announced the 1,500 square meter (16,146 sq. ft.) expansion of their Paris2 IBX, which is currently under construction and already 90 percent has been booked. Equinix's Paris2 IBX center is located in the Saint-Denis area of the city. 

With the expansion, customers will be able to have direct access to more than 15 networks and 45 enterprises and content companies already operating within Equinix's Paris2 IBX, a principal element of Equinix's value proposition.

 

Equinix intends to start placing new customers in the expanded space by the second quarter of 2008.


Equinix has also officially completed its acquisition of IXEurope. With the addition of IXEurope, Equinix now offers IBX centers in 17 key markets in North America, Europe and Asia. For the first time, Equinix customers will be able to rapidly deploy a global data center footprint.
