Du, a new telecom operator in the United Arab Emirates, will soon be offering Nokia (News - Alert) Intellisync Wireless E-mail to its consumer and business customers.
Nokia’s service provides secure, easy-to-set-up mobile e-mail and personal information management functionalities.
Andrew Grenville, executive vice president at du’s enterprise division, said Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail perfectly fits into the company’s strategy and underlines its ambition to be an integrated service provider offering voice, data and content services over fixed and mobile networks.
The Telecommunications Authority (TRA) said that the mobile penetration rate in UAE is approximately eight times higher than the Internet subscriber rate.
Scott Cooper, senior vice president at the enterprise mobility solutions unit at Nokia, said due to the increasing worldwide acceptance of mobile e-mail, the company firmly believes this service is tremendously important for the UAE market. He explained that Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail provides du with a flexible and scalable solution that allows the company to bring mobile e-mail to the mass market.
“We selected Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail platform not only for the extensive range of device support but also for its advanced functionality,” said Grenville in a statement.
He went on to say that using Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail means du is able to provide a solution for every market sector, from a consumer offering through to small businesses and large corporations.
“This solution complements du's mobility strategy and gives us the flexibility needed to meet the needs of our full range of customers,” he added.
A part of Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite, Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail provides access to collaboration tools such as email, contacts, calendar, device management and synchronization of file and data and enterprise applications.
Du, which claims to be the UAE's second largest national telecommunications provider, started its mobile service in February 2007.
