MobiTV and Intel Offer Live TV to Notebook and Mobile Internet Device Users

MobiTV (News - Alert), Inc., has announced a cooperation agreement with Intel Corporation to synchronize their efforts and optimize the personal computing version of the MobiTV service for use on Intel (News - Alert) Centrino processor technology notebooks, Ultra Mobile Personal Computers (UMPCs) and Mobile Internet Devices (MID).
“We are pleased to announce this collaboration with Intel to deliver a live television service optimized for Intel Notebooks and the new category of Mobile Internet Devices,” said Ray DeRenzo, vice president of business development for MobiTV in a press release.
“MobiTV and Intel will work with the OEMs to deliver a true out-of-the-box television experience,” he added.
The new category of Mobile Internet Devices offer consumers a unique mobile form factor, persistent Internet connectivity, and access to a rich and compelling set of personalized entertainment and productivity applications.
“MobiTV is a welcome addition to the mobile Internet ecosystem,” said Rob DeLine, director of marketing for Intel’s Ultra Mobile Group.
DeLine believes the combination of Intel’s mobile hardware technology with MobiTV will ensure the best possible TV experience on notebooks, UMPCs and MIDs.
Intel and MobiTV will develop, sell and distribute the MobiTV services in 2007. The MobiTV services are optimized for interoperability with Intel Architecture-based notebooks, UMPCs and MIDs.
The two companies will personalize and improve the user experience by working on next generation platforms and services.
