D-Link showcases Hardware and Content Services for Digital Signage Market
By Anamika Singh TMCnet Contributing Editor
D-Link (News - Alert) announced that it wILL be showcasing both large and small digital signage and a back-end content and advertising delivery system at Interop 2008.
This marks its entry into fast-growing digital signage and alternative advertising market. D-Link is a provider of end-to-end networking solutions for both business and consumers.
PQ Media's Alternative Media Forecast expects the digital signage market to grow 22 percent annually to reach in excess of $160 billion by 2012 representing 26.6 percent of all advertising and marketing dollars. Pace of expansion of this market can be gauged from ever increasing numbers of ad presentations on plasma and LCD TVs, linked through internet, in shopping malls, transportation centers, grocery stores and even gas stations.
Digital signage technology offers increased level of interaction and engagement with customers. Marketers and businesses, using secure Internet tunnels to send and receive engaging visual contents, can reach selective and niche audience easily.
As per the company, D-Link will offer both wired and wireless in-store media networking products for consumers and businesses. A network of digital display stations will be managed by a back-end content server. A special hardware and chipsets in the display will allow the system to be configured to display same or different groups of photos, videos, text, and audio content at each station at scheduled time. Touch screen and key pads based interactive stations will further enhance consumer experience while at the same time help capture invaluable consumer information for targeted advertising.
"D-Link's entrance into the digital signage marketplace is a natural extension of our total business networking capabilities," remarked Steven Joe, president and CEO of D-Link Systems, Inc. "Now we can help our business customers and integrator partners achieve success by offering a true end-to-end solution, from creating a cost-effective network of data and voice communications and storage, to establishing an easy and efficient way to promote products and services through a comprehensive digital signage solution with robust scalability."
D-Link will display a 32-inch sign and two 10-inch signs to showcase the company's back-end content delivery system designed for advertising purposes at the exhibition.
