Allied Telesis Launch x900 12 Port Layer 3+ Switch in the Americas

Allied Telesis (News - Alert), a global provider of secure IP/Ethernet access solutions, is launching its new Gigabit switch within the Americas at Interop (News - Alert) Las Vegas to be held from April 28 to May 2, 2008.

The new product - an addition to the x900 series (AT-x900-12XT/S), an advanced Layer 3+ switch with 12 Gigabit 10/100/1000T or SFP combination ports and one 30Gbps expansion bay supporting a choice of modules, including 1 x 10GbE, 12 x 1GbE (SFP), 12 x 1GbE (RJ-45).

“Our launch of the AT-x900-12XT/S proves once again that Allied Telesis continues to deliver the best possible performance at a very cost-effective price point," Phil Jopa, CTO of the Americas at Allied Telesis said in a press release.

"The Americas market has a true need for a high-end Layer 3+ switch that provides a 10 Gigabit uplink with a mix of 12 copper and fiber ports. Combined with its sophisticated QoS features, the AT-x900-12XT/S provides superior value and performance to both our enterprise customers and service provider customers," Jopa said.

The AT-x900-12XT/S comes with a host of features including it has flexible deployment options that are ideal for networks that only require a small number of mixed fiber and copper links and eliminate the need for a media converter to use both interfaces on the same switch.

To further reduce the cost of the AT-x900-12XT/S, Allied Telesis provides a fixed AC power supply with the device instead of the dual, hot swappable units delivered as standard with the other members of the x900 series.

The AT-x900-12XT/S is ideal for customers wanting to guarantee the performance of their key business services, such as VoIP, and increase the reliability and responsiveness of their most important enterprise applications.

In addition, service providers benefit from these features by being able to offer bandwidth and performance profiles tailored to each customer's precise needs.
