Qipit Enters Deal with eMOM to Help Families Stay Connected Using Mobile Technology

Qipit (News - Alert), an online service that allows members to upload various documents onto the web uses a camera phone or a digital camera to capture documents in an image format and post them on the Internet.

Recently, the San Francisco-based company tied up with eMail our Military (eMOM), an organization dedicated to keeping men in service in touch with their loved ones to assist eMOM in training their respective users for using their cameras or phones as a tool to send documents to the servicemen of their family. These documents could vary widely from legal papers to a hand-made greeting card.

"When service members are deployed rapidly, they often are unable to complete all the necessary arrangements prior to a long absence," said Trish Forant, president of eMOM. "There may be lease agreements, insurance documents or health records that need to be transmitted quickly. We were impressed at Qipit's ability to lessen the frustration of handling some of the difficult details of daily life."

The technology makes it possible for users to get excellent quality images, without using an actual scanner. The features inherent in the software automatically remove glare, shadows, distortion and crops the picture resulting in a crisp, clean, highly legible ink-on-white digital document.

"We are always looking for innovative ways for people to use Qipit to help streamline their personal business and communicate with their loved ones," said Conrad Hametner, vice president, consumer marketing for Qipit, Inc. "We are so pleased to collaborate with eMOM to provide this free service to our military families."
