LIN TV Reaches Deal with Cable One
By Anil Sharma TMCnet Contributing Editor
LIN TV Corp., a local television and digital media company, has entered into an agreement with Cable One for retransmission of its broadcast stations in both analog and in high-definition.
Thanks to the pact with Cable One, subscribers will be able to watch LIN TV’s Albuquerque FOX affiliate KASA-TV, and New Mexico’s only primetime local news at 9:00 pm, along with Super Bowl XLII and American Idol.
KASA-TV also airs highly-rated primetime programming, such as House and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, along with popular syndicated programming such as The Simpsons.
“We are pleased with the outcome of our negotiations,” Vincent L. Sadusky, president and chief executive officer of LIN TV Corp said in a statement. “Our stations are leaders in their markets and we’ve made substantial investments to bring our viewers high definition digital programming. The agreement reflects fair value to both parties and is in the best interest of the consumer.”
Earlier in October last year, LIN TV Corp entered into an agreement with MetroCast for retransmission of its broadcast stations in both analog and in high-definition.
MetroCast is a cable provider with approximately 36,000 subscribers in Eastern Connecticut.
LIN TV Corp., along with its subsidiaries, is a local television and digital media company, owning and/or operating 29 television stations in 17 U.S. markets, all of which are affiliated with a national broadcast network.
LIN TV’s highly-rated stations deliver superior local news and community stories, along with top-rated sports and entertainment programming, to 9 percent of U.S. television homes, reaching an average of 11.5 million households per week.
LIN TV is also one of the leaders in the convergence of local broadcast television and the Internet through its 29 television station web sites and a growing number of local web sites.
